Climate Change Portfolio
You will be creating a portfolio in Google Drive about climate change. Your portfolio must contain a piece from each section. This portfolio is due Wednesday, May 14. The project is worth a total of 50 performance points. Each section is worth 15 points, with an additional 5 points for it being finished on time.
Section A: Research
You must investigate climate change's effect on one of the following subjects:
1. Natural disasters
2. Animals and plants
3. Ocean
4. Glaciers and ice
5. Local weather (precipitation, temperature, seasonal changes)
You can choose to create one of the following items with your research:
1. Two-page typed paper
2. 20 slide PowerPoint presentation that includes images

1. A rap, song or poem
2. A short story
3. A poster
Section C: Making a Difference
You need to develop a plan of action for our school. What can we do to make a difference? Ideas might include starting a recycling program, reducing our food waste, or using local food vendors to reduce emissions. You will write a letter to our school administration.
Starting a school recycling program
11 Facts about Recycling
Reducing Cafeteria Waste
Extra Credit:
To receive extra credit, complete an additional project from the section below. You need to finish all the mandatory sections before starting the extra credit.
1. Data analysis
Write a paragraph (8-10 sentences) about what this graph tells us about global warming.
2. Data collection
Collect your own data about the school's waste. Choose an area you think we waste items in (paper, breakfast food, etc.) and interview at least 5 teachers about their level of waste.
3. Outreach video
Make a short video (1-2 minutes) that will spread the message of climate change. Make it entertaining so that people want to watch it, but also make sure you include actual information. This can be done at home with a cell phone camera, as long as you find a way to send it to Ms. Gentry.
